What To Do When the Heat Goes Out03/08/2017Call it Murphy’s Law, or maybe just a little bad luck, but we sometimes see heat pump issues in Chatsworth during the colder seasons, when they’re necessary to keep you warm. While you know the team at True Temp Heating & Air Inc will constantly be there ASAP when you ask for us for a heat pump repair, there are some things you can do to double check a repair is important and save yourself some expenses if it’s not. We’ve collected this checklist of things to test before you give us a call. It may sound strange, but make sure everything is set to “on”. We’ve been to more than a few calls only to realize the thermostat or the heat pump itself is turned off. Look at your thermostat to make sure it’s on, switched to the appropriate temperature and isn’t set to cool. Then try changing the battery, if it has one. If everything looks accurate, check your furnace switch (check your manual if you’re hesitant about where it is) and inspect your fuses and circuit breaker. Double check that your gas is on. If the furnace still hasn’t kicked on, go back to your thermostat. If it’s a programmable model, confirm that it’s showing the accurate time. If it thinks it’s morning when it’s really night, it may not switch your heat on because it doesn’t think you’re home. Is a blockage causing your furnace to not work? Inspect your air filters to ensure they’re not blocking things up. Do you have any obstructed ducts, vents or cool air entries? Are all supply registers open? Is your exhaust flue unobstructed? If you’ve gone through this checklist and you’re still without heat, call True Temp Heating & Air Inc at 706-695-7492 or set up an appointment online and we’ll get your home back to the welcoming and cozy place it should be.
